When we fly
28 Aug 2010, 3am
In an age where flying has become almost a reflex, just another mode of transport, the overall number of flights in the air at any particular point in time has reached truly staggering proportions.

According to the ACI (Airports Council International), in 2009, 4.796 billion passengers travelled by air on a total of 74.1 million flights.

These views of the aerial next that spans the earth is based on one-minute snapshots of the number of passengers and planes in the air at a given moment in time - little blips on the global radar that add up to an impressive whole.
